French Press
About French Press
The word cafetière is French, for ‘coffee maker’ - appropriately so. Patented by an Italian designer and popular since the 50s! You might have one in the back of your cupboard somewhere.

Your Guide To French Press
Rinse your French Press with hot water and discard it before you start. It takes ten seconds and keeps your brew temperature stable throughout.
Add 18–20 g of coarsely ground coffee, start your timer, and slowly pour 300 ml of hot water over the grounds. Make sure everything gets evenly saturated.
Give it a gentle stir, place the lid on top with the plunger pulled all the way up, and let it steep for 4 minutes. If you like a heavier, fuller cup, push to 5 but not more.
Press the plunger down slowly and steadily until it reaches the bottom. Don’t rush this step, a controlled press gives you a cleaner cup.
Pour into your mug immediately. Don't leave the coffee sitting in the French Press after you've pressed. It keeps extracting and turns bitter.
Your coffee is ready! Try it black first to appreciate the full flavor profile of the coffee.
